Early Launch | Last Updated: October 18, 2026
Lexi is Quickscribe's optional AI-assisted legislative research tool. This notice applies during the current Preview and Early Launch period. If you access Quickscribe through an organization, Lexi is not activated for the organization without authorization from the Subscriber or account administrator. The administrator may determine who can use Lexi and may control available settings, including AI processing options, chat history, Focused Canadian Legal Web Search and other account features. Named Users must acknowledge this Notice before first using Lexi.
A legislation research tool
Lexi is designed primarily to help research legislation and related legal materials. Ordinary use does not require personal information or client-identifying details. Use anonymized or fictionalized facts whenever possible.
Lexi helps Users locate, summarize and understand British Columbia and selected federal legislation and related legal research materials. It is not a general-purpose chatbot, does not provide legal advice and does not create a solicitor-client or other professional relationship.
Lexi starts with legislation maintained within Quickscribe as its primary research base. It may also use Quickscribe-curated supporting materials stored or indexed within Quickscribe's own Canadian-hosted systems, including Hansard, Supplemental Notes, Expert Annotations and hosted guidance. Lexi does not search the public web as part of this core research process. Only where the separate optional Focused Canadian Legal Web Search feature has been enabled may Lexi send search terms to an external search provider and retrieve external sources. Supporting sources supplement, but do not override, primary law.
Lexi does not independently search, retrieve or use subscribers' Private or Organizational Annotations, usernames, account records or other stored subscriber information as sources for AI research. Its responses are based on questions deliberately submitted through Lexi, together with relevant legislation and Quickscribe-curated legal research materials.
Lexi can make mistakes. An answer may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or misleading; may omit relevant law or authorities; may misunderstand the question; or may contain an incomplete or mismatched citation.
Always open and review the cited legislation and other sources, confirm currency, amendments, commencement, jurisdiction and context, and complete any additional research or professional review required before relying on a response.
Do not include sensitive personal information, privileged or confidential client information, file numbers or unnecessary identifying details in Lexi prompts. Use placeholders such as "Client A", "Employee B" or "Company X" and provide only the information reasonably necessary to describe the legal research issue.
If you believe identifying or sensitive information is necessary, you are responsible for ensuring that its submission is authorized and permitted by your organization's policies and applicable legal and professional obligations.
Lexi offers three AI processing options: Canada Processing Only, International Processing, and Quickscribe-Managed Processing. Under Quickscribe-Managed Processing, Canadian processing is preferred where practical, but questions and relevant source excerpts may be processed internationally when Quickscribe selects an approved international provider, including through automatic fallback where enabled. Canada Processing Only does not permit international AI processing.
International Processing currently uses an enterprise API arrangement with zero data retention for supported standard AI-processing requests. This protection also applies when the same international AI provider arrangement is used under Quickscribe-Managed Processing, including automatic fallback.
Quickscribe does not use Lexi questions or responses to train AI models and does not authorize its enterprise AI providers to use Lexi production questions or responses for model training. Models, versions and providers may change as Lexi evolves, but material privacy and data-handling commitments will be maintained or the applicable disclosures will be updated.
The selected AI processing option does not automatically determine the processing location or retention practices of separate optional services such as external web search.
Lexi chat history is optional. Where enabled, Quickscribe stores the User's questions and responses in Canada so the User can access prior conversations, subject to account and permission controls. A Subscriber or administrator may disable chat history or restrict access according to the account configuration.
Where chat history is disabled, Quickscribe does not create a user-visible conversation history. Separate operational records may still be created or retained for usage management, testing, quality assurance, troubleshooting, support, security and service operation. Where reasonably necessary for those purposes, authorized Quickscribe personnel or service providers with a legitimate operational need may access a submitted question, response or relevant excerpt.
Focused Canadian Legal Web Search is a separate optional feature and is not enabled unless authorized for the applicable account or User. During Early Launch it may be available only to selected accounts or Users while the feature is refined. When it is disabled, Lexi does not send search terms to an external web-search service.
When enabled, Lexi may send search terms and limited contextual information derived from the User's question to an external search or grounding provider to locate publicly available Canadian legal and public sources. This processing may occur outside Canada and may be subject to different technical-retention or provider practices than the selected AI-processing option. The word "Canadian" describes the intended focus of the sources, not necessarily the processing location.
Do not include unnecessary names, file numbers, client facts or other identifying or confidential information in a question that may be used for web search. External results are supplemental research only; open and review the original source and confirm its currency and context before relying on it.
Lexi may be subject to daily or pooled query limits, fair-use controls, maintenance, provider availability and changes to models, sources or features.
The Subscriber or account administrator may establish and change organization-wide Lexi settings at any time, including the AI processing option, chat history, Focused Canadian Legal Web Search and other available features. Where supported, the administrator may also apply different settings or access permissions to selected Users or groups. A User's available settings may therefore be determined by the organization and may change from time to time.
Quickscribe may require renewed acknowledgement after a material change to this Notice.
