ATTORNEY GENERAL STATUTES AMENDMENT ACT, 2007

The Attorney General Statutes Amendment Act, 2007, S.B.C. chap. 14 (2007 Bill 33) makes an amendment to the Interpretation Act which consequentially amends many of the Acts. To see the complete list of Acts amended, click December 2007 Reporter Supplement.

Here is the reference from Bill 33, section 69:

Interpretation Act 69   Section 33 of the Interpretation Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 238, is amended by adding the following subsection: (6)   If an enactment refers to a matter "under" a named or unnamed Act, an Act in that reference includes regulations enacted under the authority of that Act.

2007 Oil and Gas Rights Sales Shatters Record — The Dec. 12, 2007 sale of oil and gas rights in northeast British Columbia capped a record-breaking year for the province. The $401 million generated in bonus bids brought the year-end total to over $1 billon in revenue, it was recently announced. See News Release.

Oil and Gas Firms Penalized a Total of $113,000 — Two major resource companies operating in a remote area in northeast British Columbia have been fined at total of $113,000 after pleading guilty to a charge under B.C.'s Water Act it was recently announced. See News Release.

Kispiox Timber Supply — The allowable annual cut for the Kispiox timber supply area will be maintained at 977,000 cubic metres it was recently announced. See News Release.

Snow accumulation and ablation in a beetle-killed pine stand in Northern Interior British Columbia — This preliminary study examines the impact of mountain pine beetle infestation and subsequent canopy mortality on ground snow accumulation and ablation in lodgepole pine stands. Proposed Changes to Water Act Information Session — The Water Stewardship Division of the Ministry of Environment will be reviewing the Part 7 Regulation (Changes in and about a Stream) under Section 9 of the Water Act. Minor revisions to the Regulation are being contemplated and are intended to condense and streamline regulatory wording and also reduce prescriptive language.
