BC Timber Sales Pursues SAFE Company Certification — There are now more than 1000 companies registered under the SAFE Companies program offered through the BC Forest Safety Council. This program is intended to improve forest industry safety and helps to ensure companies establish and maintain successful health and safety programs. The BC Timber Sales program recently joined this growing list of organizations as they hope to achieve SAFE companies status within the next 6 months. See News Release.

The Legislature recently introduced Bill 18, the Forests and Range Statutes Amendment Act, 2007, which has now passed second reading. Amendments will be made to the Forest Act, the Forest and Range Practices Act and the Wildfire Act, among others. Some sections will come in force by Royal Assent and others by regulation.
