BILL M228 – 2025 FREEDOM CONVOY RECOGNITION DAY ACT
HIS MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of
the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as
follows:
Freedom Convoy Recognition Day
1 (1) March 11 in each year is Freedom Convoy Recognition Day.
(2) Freedom Convoy Recognition Day is a public holiday.
Related Amendments
Election Act
2 Section 1 (1) of the Election Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 106, is amended in paragraph (b) of the definition of "holiday" by adding ", Freedom Convoy Recognition Day" after "Family Day".
Employment Standards Act
3 Section 1 (1) of the Employment Standards Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 113, is amended in the definition of "statutory holiday" by adding "Freedom Convoy Recognition Day," after "Family Day,".
Interpretation Act
4 Section 29 of the Interpretation Act, R.S.B.C. 1996, c. 238, is amended in paragraph (b) of the definition of "holiday" by adding ", Freedom Convoy Recognition Day" after "Family Day".
Commencement
5 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.
Explanatory Note
This Bill designates March 11 as Freedom Convoy Recognition Day and
establishes it as a public holiday and a statutory holiday under the Employment Standards Act.
