Explanatory Note

This Bill provides increased bases for purposes of ministerial accountability under the Balanced Budget and Ministerial Accountability Act, to reflect additional expenditures incurred under appropriations made by the Supply Act for Supplementary Estimates presented at the current sitting of the Legislative Assembly.

HER MAJESTY, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Assembly of the Province of British Columbia, enacts as follows:

Minister of Finance

1 For the purposes of sections 5 (1) and 6 (1) of the Balanced Budget and Ministerial Accountability Act in relation to the Minister of Finance for the 2005-2006 fiscal year, the estimated amount under section 6 (1) of that Act is the sum of

(a) the amounts appropriated for the operating expenses for which that minister is responsible in the main estimates for that fiscal year, and

(b) the amount appropriated under section 1 of the Supply Act, 2005-2006 (Supplementary Estimates No. 1) for the operating expenses for which that minister is responsible in the supplementary estimates referred to in the preamble to that Act.

Commencement

2 This Act comes into force on the date of Royal Assent.
